⁣ভোরের আলোয় অযোধ্যার উঠোনে সীতামাতা কপালে সিঁদুর পরছিলেন। দূর থেকে হনুমান দেখছিলেন। তিনি জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “মাতা, আপনি সিঁদুর কেন পরেন?” সীতা মৃদু হেসে বললেন, “প্রভু রামের দীর্ঘায়ু আর শুভরক্ষার জন্য।” কথাটা শুনেই হনুমানের মনে ভক্তির ঢেউ উঠল। তিনি ভাবলেন—যদি একটু সিঁদুর রামকে রক্ষা করে, তবে পুরো শরীর সিঁদুরে ঢেকে দিলে রাম আরও শক্তি পাবেন। মুহূর্তে হনুমান মাথা থেকে পা পর্যন্ত সিঁদুর মেখে দাঁড়ালেন। রাম বিস্ময়ে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন। হনুমান বললেন, “প্রভু, আপনার কল্যাণেই আমার ভক্তি।” রাম তাকে বুকে জড়িয়ে আশীর্বাদ করলেন।
